Sheldon Sheehy

The decorated and immensely popular Sheldon Sheehy returns to both LAVA West and LAVA South for the upcoming season, bringing his patented brand of passion and charisma that captures and captivates the athletes lucky enough to play on his teams; the consummate “player’s coach”. Sheldon brings a decade’s worth of experience to the table and has been a part of LAVA since the organization’s inception. He was the Head Varsity Coach for Girls and Boys at Heritage Christian School for several years — the school won multiple league championships and had several deep CIF playoff runs during his tenure there — before he joined Nabil Mardini as Assistant Coach for perennial powerhouse Pierce College in 2016. His first Pierce squad won the League and Conference Championships, and was the California State Championship Runner-Up. Sheldon has coached numerous seasons of club volleyball with significant successes on his resume, but his dedication, his ability to connect with and motivate players, and his commitment to the craft of coaching was most prominently displayed during the spring of 2017, when his LAVA West 18 Adidas squad finished #5 overall in the SCVA region in the 18’s Age Division — and then went on to win a Gold Medal at the USA Volleyball Junior National Championships, held in Dallas in April of that year. An important coach for any staff to have on its roster, LAVA will utilize Sheldon in two different locations as he returns to coach for both LAVA South and LAVA West this coming season.
